Events Information

Welcome Club members look forward to “Events” that happen throughout the year. Two activity groups can go together to share an outing or social evening. Sometimes activities are in conjunction with our charity. Dining Out and Special Events have combined with Charity for a fun evening of Bunco or Bingo. We pay a small fee for a meal before playing games and that money goes towards our charity.

Summer Swim Club and Day Trips are also considered events since they don't always happen on the same day of the month all year along.

Event Luncheons

Our December luncheon is a special "event" since it incorporates a bake and craft sale for our charity, wonderful holiday musical entertainment and a delicious meal. Members enjoy the Holiday celebration together and also the chance to buy baked goodies or a special handmade gift. Some years our spring luncheon includes a Style Show where our members model clothing from several local stores. These luncheons are always a lot of fun!

Summer Swim Club

From 1:00 - 4:30 pm on Tuesday afternoons, June through mid-September, join us in the heated water of the swimming pool in a member's backyard. It's a great way to exercise, visit, and enjoy the outdoors. You'll find yourself very relaxed afterward!

Day Tripper Events

Our Day Tripper group has visited several places in Iowa. Once a month, except in the winter months when driving could be hazardous, one-day trips are planned for the membership. Some of the places we recently visited are:

  • Amish Country near Hazleton
  • Peeper Hollow Farms in Marion
  • Linn County Solid Waste Facility
  • Cedar Rock, a Frank Lloyd Wright designed home, near Quasqueton
  • Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center in Marion
  • Marvin Cone's art work at Coe College

Plans are being made for more fun trips and we are always open to ideas from our membership.
