Day Tripper Events

Our Day Tripper group has visited several places in Iowa. Most of the day trips are in the Cedar Rapids area, but sometimes we carpool an hour to see an interesting town or museum. We enjoy lunch out and have the opportunity to spend time together and get to know other members. Guests and spouses are always welcome on our outings.

In the past year we enjoyed a trip for a "Behind the Scene Peek" at the beautiful Paramount Theater in downtown Cedar Rapids. Another exciting outing was to Hawkeye Downs for a racing event. There we also toured the Expo Center and learned some history about the park. A couple other trips were to explore the town of North Liberty and the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum near Walcott off I-80 interstate. There are now over 100 antique trucks on display in that museum. Later in the year we took a tour of the new, beautiful Marion Public Library. As you can see we went to wide variety of places.

 

2023 Upcoming Day Trips include:

• A tour of the United States Courthouse for the Northern District of Iowa in downtown Cedar Rapids.
• Noelridge Greenhouse where annuals and perennials for planting at public property are grown.
• A tour of the new Stanley Museum of ARt at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

Plans are being made for more fun trips and we are always open to ideas from our membership.
